Terms of use

Who these terms are with

Dungeon Screen ("we", "us") is an independent business based in Queensland, Australia. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account. Players who join a table with a code are not required to have an account and are not bound by the account terms, but they must still follow the acceptable use section.

The service

Dungeon Screen is a tool for running tabletop games. You keep ownership of everything you create in it. We keep the right to run, back up and improve the service, which includes storing and transmitting your content to make it work, and nothing more.

Your account

Keep your sign in email secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the codes and passcodes you hand out to players. One person per account.

Free and paid plans

The free plan includes every feature with a limit of 2 campaigns and 4 player seats per campaign. The Keeper plan removes those limits and adds extras described on the site. Prices are set in US dollars. Checkout may show them converted to your local currency, and adds any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you live.

Paid plans are sold through Stripe, which acts as the seller of record. That means Stripe processes the payment, calculates and pays the tax, issues your receipts and invoices, and can help with payment questions. Stripe's own terms for buyers apply to the payment itself; these terms cover the service.

Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Account page; the plan stays active until the end of the period already paid for and no further charges are made. The founder option is a one-off payment for lifetime access to the Keeper plan for as long as the service exists; it is not a subscription and does not renew.

Because you can try every feature free before paying, we do not generally refund a change of mind. If something is broken and we cannot fix it, or you were charged in error, email us and we will put it right. Stripe, as seller of record, may also issue refunds in some cases within 60 days of purchase and applies any cooling off period required where you live. Nothing here removes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer law where you live.

If you downgrade or a subscription lapses, nothing is deleted. Campaigns and seats over the free limit stay as they are; you just cannot add more until you are back under the limit or resubscribe.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to store or share content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, or that harasses others. Do not try to access other people's campaigns, guess codes or passcodes, probe the service for weaknesses, scrape it, or overload it.

Third party content and trademarks

The built in reference text is written in plain language for this tool. Class and spell mechanics in the D&D ruleset are drawn from the System Reference Document 5.1 published by Wizards of the Coast under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. If you enter material from a published game, you are responsible for having the right to use it.

Dungeons & Dragons, D&D and D&D Beyond are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Dungeon Screen is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast. The D&D Beyond import only fetches characters you have made public, on your request, and keeps names and numbers only. We may change or remove that feature if D&D Beyond changes how it works or asks us to.

If you believe content on Dungeon Screen infringes your copyright, email contact.dungeonscreen@gmail.com with a link or code, a description of the work, and your contact details. We will take reasonable steps to remove or disable access to infringing material and notify the account holder.

Availability

The service is provided as is. We aim to keep it up and to keep your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error free. Export your campaigns if you want an independent copy. If we ever shut the service down we will give at least 60 days notice and keep export working until then.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms or the service. Material changes will be noted on this page and signed in users are told on their next visit. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms; if we close a paid account for a breach, no refund is owed.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service, and our total liability for anything else is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and the courts there have jurisdiction over any dispute, without limiting your right to bring a claim under the consumer law of your own country.
